Hi Susie, I’m Peruvian American and a subscriber to your newsletter. Are you aware there is a significant Japanese and Chinese immigrant population in Peru, Brazil and other South American countries? Specific to the Japanese community in Peru, their influence resulted in nikkei cuisine, the merger of the two cultures and culinary traditions. I gather you are presuming it was Mexican Japanese.

Hi Natalie. Yes thanks for the info. I was making a joke BUT yes I was specifically thinking of items on the Mama Sushi menu that they call Mexican. Example: They have a roll called the "MEXICANO" and it has:

Shrimp Tempura, Fried Cheese, Avocado, Guacamole, Pico de Gallo

But truly, a joke, and not one meant to offend. Also I'd eat and appreciate all the things.

Thanks! Was trying to express in a true but kind way. I mean maybe some people love that? Ha.
