A Letter From The Editor:
My gosh it’s been a hot second. The Gazette was delayed, although since it’s a free newsletter with no actual publishing schedule, it’s also exactly on time.
The pic above? Really me. But really my brothers and I don’t agree if it was staged/enhanced or the morning after a party. Tony the Tiger, sugar on the table and the secondhand smoke was part of my childhood. But if you grew up in the 70’s and didn’t have that? Maybe you grew up in the 80’s, time of helmets and parents who realized they should quit or hide their habits.
Whatever… we are now in the 2024 holiday season (Mariah says we are so we are). So why is this later than usual? Well I had issues. In fact, I had a whole subscription. Life joys and challenges included but were not limited to:
Visiting my 98-year-old aunt. She’s doing well thanks, and turns 99 in January.
Halloween candy — for the first year my kids offered me anything from their bags. Does that mean they are all grown up? Does it mean I was on a sugar bender? Actually neither. I’m just vamping…
I visited the Zoo and had a homemade breakfast with an old comedy pal who is now a real-life souperhero.
Usual mom stuff which is, even with the help of a good dad, enough to make anyone too busy to clip their own toenails.
Weehawken Gazette sponsored a run/supplied carbs, fruit, and fun with our local fit do gooders The Run Club USA. Pics of that day below:
We did live shows here and there, we planned some future stuff including a fine art and comedy event tonight which is part of the NY Comedy Festival. Next event is the 17th… details shortly. Gotta get wigs and heels on now…
Update after publish: Events I’m doing and co-producing Sunday Nov. 17 in Greenwich Village — we could use more audience!
One features bagels from Weehawken! See below:

Too busy to take advantage of all NoHu has to offer. Book clubs, happy hours, atrium concerts, invites from friends to just walk and talk or have coffee which are the best invites please keep them coming.
Three Or More Cheers For Pink Bagels
On October 24th, Weehawken’s own friendly neighborhood cafe, Bagels On Park, had pink bagels on offer and also donated 15% of total proceeds from the day to METAvivor Research and Support Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding metastatic breast cancer research. We didn’t wanna let that go uncelebrated because… it takes some extra moxie to run your business and go the extra mile. We’ll post some extra pictures of it on social when we get a chance, but there’s some right here:
More about Bagels on Park:
Bagels on Park is a woman owned bagel shop located in the heart of Weehawken, NJ. Known for its hand-rolled, freshly baked bagels and strong community ties, the shop regularly supports local charities and causes, committed to making a positive impact in the lives of its customers and neighbors.
Get Some Mellow Cello At UBS Atrium
Free lunchtime concerts take place in the UBS Atrium at Lincoln Harbor on the Weehawken Waterfront.
November 19th at 12:30P there’s an atrium concert on a Tuesday afternoon featuring The Galvin Cello Quartet. Now that more people work from home, will this lead to bigger crowds? Maybe so. We shall see. But whatever, it’s FREE. Yay.
Thanks to the sponsors of this neat music thingy.

What is HRPAC? It’s like, cool stuff for until we actually have that performance arts center, we think. From their website:
The Hudson Riverfront Performing Arts Center, Inc. (HRPAC) is a New Jersey-based 501-C-3 Nonprofit Organization whose mission it is to expand and enhance the arts in North Hudson with the goal of someday building a performance space on the spectacular Hudson River waterfront in Weehawken, New Jersey.
Catch My Drift?
Houlihan’s RIP wasn’t great for food (dear Thor if you ever had their idea of Korean food our condolences) but to have a drink with friends? Well, it’s no Elks club, but it was something.
Now the old Houlihan’s space is shiny and new and just opened. Follow them on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/driftrestaurant and let us know how you like it if you go.
Sad News: Losing James V. Marchetti, Jr.
James V. Marchetti Jr., "Jimmy", age 80, passed away peacefully in Weehawken, NJ. He was born on May 8, 1944 in Hoboken, NJ, to James Sr. and Marie Marchetti (née Kenny).
What a life of public service. He also told great stories, and we looked forward to seeing him at every event. What a gut punch to all who knew him — and he seemed to know everyone. Love to his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family.
His obituary on NJ.com is here: https://obits.nj.com/us/obituaries/jerseyjournal/name/james-marchetti-obituary?id=56621474
His memorial is here to add a memory: https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/union-city-nj/james-marchetti-12044186
Let’s keep the wall of memories growing. He was loved and appreciated for sure.

Sugar Mama Extraordinaire Salutes Weehawken
I was a dancing leaf for one autumn in Vermont thanks to: a dancer getting injured, not by me, and me begging to fill their place because the leaves were SO COOL.
Barbara Roan was our sugar maple mama / leader of the leaves and she is an accomplished dancer and former Bennington College professor who is still in touch with me, her worst-ever dancer, but most-ever passionate leaf costume wearer!
Fun fact: I think the original designer of these costumes lives in Weehawken now, and has for at least 20 years… and if this is true, and she’s game, we will interview her here.
We sent a fall package to Barbara after Weehawken Day and she sent back a video. We will be sharing here or on our Instagram soon. Just wanna give a shout out to her as she is the good witch of our north, and no fall can go by without us wishing we could do a fly by because she and her husband Mike blow me away in a good way.
Here’s a video from Barbara’s leaftirement. Warning: in this video puns are flying!

Good one!
